Black Flag Resynced vs Original: Every Change
Updated July 7, 2026
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a full remake — rebuilt from scratch on the latest Anvil engine with zero code from the 2013 game. Here's every major change versus the original.

Graphics & performance
- Ray-traced lighting and micropolygon rendering
- No loading screens when entering major cities
- 60 FPS mode on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X
- Steam Deck Verified at launch
New story content
- “A World Without Gold” — a new endgame chapter with eight extra missions expanding Blackbeard's story
- Stede Bonnet gets a new mission and epilogue starting in Sequence 9 on Mystery Island
- New scenes with Matt Ryan and the original cast returning
- New islands: Black Island, Mystery Island and Sacrifice Island
Quality-of-life & extras
- 10 new sea shanties and a new shanty wheel
- Pets aboard the Jackdaw
- Photo mode
- Streamlined trophy list — the old multiplayer requirements are gone
What's the same?
It's still Edward Kenway's single-player Caribbean adventure — open-world stealth, on-foot and naval combat, and 100% synchronization. There is no multiplayer and no season pass.
