The story is told across a series of numbered sequences, with new missions added in the later ones plus an eight-mission endgame chapter.

The campaign is structured into a series of numbered sequences and memories, following the original's framework. The remake layers new content on top: a Blackbeard treasure quest opens in Sequence 8, and a Stede Bonnet mission and epilogue begins in Sequence 9.

On top of the main sequences, the remake adds A World Without Gold, an eight-mission endgame chapter that unlocks at the start of the final sequence.
